He was given the nickname ‘Bam Bam’ early on in he’s life by he’s grandad, due to the young boy constantly running head on into walls for the fun of it. This nick name seemed to have stuck with him, eventually getting shortened to ‘Bam’ by the time he started school.

Bam went to school in West Chester, initally he didnt finish and dropped out after he’s junior year. He was later persuded to return and obtain he’s GED by he’s parents.

Skateboarding And Early Career

Throughout he’s early days and school life Bam fell in love with skateboarding and the rebelious scene that went with it. Finding insparation from the top skateboarding legends such as Tony Hawk, Bob Burnquist & Rodney Mullen, Bam embarked on skateboarding obsession that would stick with him throughout he’s career.

Bam would skateboard everywhere he went, often encouraged by he’s parents Phil & April who would film Bam and he’s friends skating on a VHS camcorder. Bam and other neighbourhood kids would re-watch the clips back at he’s parents house. Bam noticed at a young age that the audience not only loved the skateboarding but the comedy sketches and whacky stunts/tricks he’s friends would perform for the camera too.

By tenth grade Bam was skateboarding full time. Bam continued filming everything they did on and off the skatepark. He’s films morphed into a mix of pranks and stunts and small skits tied together with skateboard clips.

By 1997 Bam had made such a name for himself in the skate world that he become pro signing with the legendary skate brand ‘Toy Machine’. TV And Film Career

By the late 90’s Bam had recruited a small crew (Ryan Dunn, Rake Yohn, Jess Margera to name a few familar names – most of which went onto working in the Jackass franchise) to join in performing stunts and skateboarding tricks on film with him.

At the time, Bam’s brother ‘Jess’ was in a band called CKY short for ‘Camp Kill Yourself’. He’s brothers music formed the soundtrack for Bams’ upcoming movie debut. Jess also starred in some of the early clips but dropped out after he’s band became successful.

In 1999 Bam decided to edit all the film they had shot and put out a movie under the CKY brand – at the time skaters movies like this had become a big thing. Bam and he’s crew caught the first major wave into mainstream. Bam went onto release more CKY movies which grew in popularity after every release. In an early interview Bam stated that the CKY movies had sold more than 400,000 copies – netting him a $1 million pay check.

Around the time of the CKY release other ‘skate’ crews were doing they’re own stunt videos. Jeff Teramine, a then editor for a skateboard magazine named ‘Big Brother’ had recently made contact with a struggling actor at the time named Johnny Knoxville. They had formed a small team and would film short pranks/stunts and skits to feature in Jeffs’ magazine. After hearing what Bam had been doing Jeff thought the two would be a good fit and made the connection. The Jackass team was born!

It wasn’t long after Jackass formed that they secured a spot on MTV. Bam and the rest of the guys become superstars. I didn’t stop there, the Jackass franchise went on to become a worldwide sensation selling way over $200 million in box office sales not to mention the merch. This was major factor in Bam Margeras’ net worth, he made way over $20 million from Jackass alone.

Bam was well received and a major player in the Jackass series from day one. He starred in pretty much all of what they put out (aside form the latest Jackass 4).

Bam Margeras’ success continued out side of the Jackass brand. He secured some of he’s own TV shows. Most notably ‘Viva La Bam’ which ran from 2003 to 2005 on MTV. Much of he’s own stuff followed the same format of Jackass and CKY. A large portion of the shows were filmed at Bam’s mansion named ‘Castle Bam’.

Personal Life

Bam has had many relationships throughout he’s career. In the early days he was in a relationship with Jen Rivell of whom he was engaged to. Jen can be seen featured in Bam’s early recordings. The relationship ended badly by all accounts after Bam reported Jen for breaking into he’s house.

Bam become married in 2007 with a child hood friend Melissa Rothstein. The couple had a large public wedding, most of the Jackass crew were there. Unfortuantely Bam and Melissa split and officially divorced in 2012. It is thought that the death of Bams close friend Ryan Dunn had caused the relationship to break down.

Bam re-married in 2013 to he’s now wife Nicole Boyd . They married in Iceland and have a son together.

Bam unfortunately has recently had some personal issues which resulted in him seeing he’s net worth decline from the highs of the early 2000’s. He was sadly missed for the latest Jackass 4 movie.
